Master of Industrial Engineering in Public Safety Management

The Department of Industrial Engineering at the University of Houston has developed a new concentration in Public Safety Management (PSM) in its existing Master of Industrial Engineering (MIE) degree.Recognizing that industrial engineering can play a vital role in some of the most pressing issues in planning, managing and delivering public safety services facing industry and government, this concentration provides a solid education for understanding and tackling interdisciplinary issues at the interface of public safety management and industrial engineering.The MIE degree with concentration in PSM aims at preparing students for their professional careers by building high proficiency in the engineering aspects of PSM. The concentration offers a well-thought-out course curriculum, internship opportunities, hands-on learning experience by collaborating with people in the field, direct mentoring from dedicated faculty, and competitive scholarships. Within this concentration, a PSM certificate program that is structured around a specific topic is also available.
