What will I learn?

Advanced study leading to the master of science degree in the field of agricultural economics prepares students for such professional careers as: Commodity outlook analyst/traderManagement specialist in business firmsLoan analyst or bank officerGovernment plannerEconomic analyst or research coordinator in various branches of local, state, and federal governmentsThree alternatives exist for satisfying requirements for the M.S. degree:30 credit hours, including six credit hours for a thesis32 credit hours, including two credit hours for a formal report and33 credit hours of course work and a creative component. Students holding an assistantship are required to write a thesis.The primary opportunity for differentiation and specialization by the M.S. degree student on assistantship is through development of a research project and choice of electives. Students not writing a thesis will have more hours of electives and will be able to specialize through their selection of courses.The international agricultural development emphasis is designed to prepare students for positions asagricultural program advisors in international development organizations,rural project and area administrators in foreign governmentstechnical personnel in national and regional planning agencies for agricultural development, andforeign agricultural experts in private corporations. The elective courses are:AGEC 5733 International Agricultural Policy and Development (even years)

A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred however applicants with a lower GPA are still considered for admissionThe personal statement provides an opportunity for the applicant to not only demonstrate skills in effective writing and communication but showcase his or her passion for the field of public health facets of personal character and readiness for entrance into a rigorous graduate program of study The MPH program at OSU seeks to admit a diverse population of students who display a dedication to public health practice and an understanding of the role of public health practice in improving health outcomesTwo letters of recommendation are requiredThe field of public health is a corner stone of community service and outreach Related experience serving rural populations or otherwise addressing needs for underserved populations is preferred Related experience does not have to be within the field of public health but may demonstrate dedication to a topic or populations skills in leadership etcTOEFL 79 internet-based 550 paper-based.IELTS 6.5
