The Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) is a 2-year, 6-semester, 64-unit, professional program dedicated to the development of high-quality healthcare professionals. Our program begins in the summer of each academic year. Please review the Academic Curriculum for semester-by-semester requirements. This program commits itself to providing a high-quality education in order to prepare students for a career as a certified athletic trainer through developing cognitive skills, psychomotor mastery, and affective values in evidence-based practice and through prevention and health promotion, clinical examination and diagnosis, acute care of injury and illness, therapeutic interventions, psychosocial strategies and referral, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility in the field of athletic training.The MSAT features a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills through case-based learning. Students are required to complete a diversity of clinical experiences which include high schools, community colleges, 4-year colleges, rehabilitation clinics, and physician practice settings. To be eligible for the Board of Certification (BOC) Examination, both the didactic and clinical components of the MSAT must be successfully completed.
