The Jefferson Biotechnology program is designed to provide graduates with the unique ability to adapt and innovate in any research environment and product-driven industry. Biotechnology is where life sciences and technology converge. A degree in biotechnology opens up numerous employment possibilities since practically every industry utilizes biotechnology. A biotechnology degree fosters creativity, innovation, and adaptability that is applicable to most career choices.
The Biotechnology program is STEM designated. STEM eligibility allows international students on an F-1 student status to apply for an additional 24 months of work authorization after an initial 12-month period of post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States, if they meet the required criteria.

Entry requirements

For international students

Transcripts: Submit official undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Personal Statement: Submit a statement of purpose outlining your interest in the program, how the course of study relates to your desired career path, and your academic and job-related experiences that are relevant to the program. An interview is required. Qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview after all supporting application materials are received and a preliminary review by the Admissions Committee has been conducted. Applicants are required to hold a bachelors degree in biotechnology, cytotechnology, or medical laboratory science from a regionally accredited institution prior to the start of the program.
