What will I learn?

After completion of core coursework in the major sub-disciplines, students in the Chemistry M.S. program have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of research experiences, including analytical, biochemistry, chemical education, computational and theoretical, environmental, nanomaterials, organic synthesis, organometallic catalysis, or polymers.It also offer a concentration in Chemistry Analytics in the M.S. in Professional Science. The research experience is considerably enhanced by MTSU's 250,000-square-foot science building and upgraded instrumentation. Graduates find employment in a wide range of areas and about half continue their education in high-quality doctoral and/or professional programs. The department also participates in three interdisciplinary Ph.D. programs (Molecular Biosciences, Computational Science, and Mathematics and Science Education). The Master of Science in Chemistry requires 30-40 hours with no more than 30 percent of the total degree hours dually listed as undergraduate/graduate.

Entry requirements

For international students

Admissions are based on a comprehensive assessment of a candidate qualifications including undergraduate and graduate grade point average. An applicant must have an undergraduate minor in chemistry or its equivalent at time of admission. All applicants must hold a bachelor degree from an accredited university. GPA of 2.75 (Grade Point Average of 4.0 scale) required for admission. Submit all college/university official transcripts you have earned within the U.S.
