Gain the advanced skills and knowledge to solve pressing energy challenges with our Master’s in Energy Engineering. The Master of Science in Engineering in Energy Engineering will provide you with the skills, hands-on experience and professional connections to lead sustainable energy initiatives. Build broad expertise in energy efficiency and deep knowledge in one of two high-demand options:Renewable (Solar) Engineering Option: Once focused exclusively on solar energy engineering, this option now includes courses on multiple renewable technologies, including wind turbines, fuel cells and batteries, and green combustion, among others. This option is offered through the Mechanical & Industrial Engineering Department.Nuclear Engineering Option: As the only public institution in New England with a nuclear reactor on campus, UMass Lowell offers an affordable pathway to gain experience and expertise in power plant safety, radiation shielding and protection, advanced radiation detectors, nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear safeguards and modeling and simulation of the nuclear fuel cycle. This option is offered through the Chemical Engineering Department.
