What will I learn?

With UMass Lowell's Master's in Environmental Science, you will gain the knowledge and practical skills needed to address issues related to the geosphere, biosphere, atmosphere and hydrosphere. Environmental Geoscience Option - Designed for students to gain knowledge and skills to conduct research and act as consultants in environmental sciences and geosciences. Courses are distributed across two areas – Policy/Economics and Environmental Geoscience.

Entry requirements

For international students

  • A statement of purpose
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Official transcripts
  • Official test scores
    • GRE not required
  • Bachelor's degree in physical sciences, biological sciences, mathematics or engineering with a minimum 3.000 GPA from an accredited institution
  • Applicants should have at least one year of college Physics, one year of college Chemistry, and Calculus I & II
  • Students may be required to take undergraduate courses to meet prerequisites but these credits will not count towards the total required for the Master's degree
