We offer a professional program and a research program, which apply geographic concepts and techniques to solve those problems. By studying Geography at the University of North Texas, you learn to apply research methods and spatial and environmental problem-solving skills to: Address problems related to floods, droughts and other hazards. Create plans for sustainable urban growth. Evaluate effects of globalization and environmental change on human security. Evaluate human impacts on ecosystems. Find good locations and markets for business expansion. Identify patterns in the spread of disease. Plan and manage water, energy and other resourcesThe GIS faculty at UNT has core expertise in spatial analysis and modeling, remote sensing, and computational geography that support our BS programs in Geography and GISCS, our MS programs, as well as our GIS Certificates. Our interests cover health and medical geography, environmental analysis, and location intelligence and modeling.
