What will I learn?

Geography is an innovative and vibrant discipline that provides an integrated approach to the study of the interplay of human societies and physical environments. Our department works at the forefront of nature-society dynamics, cultural/historical geography and geographic information science, including unmanned aerial systems. Our graduates have gone on to successful careers in government, business and academia. Entry requirements

For international students

Current résumé or curriculum vitae (CV);Names and email addresses of three references who will be automatically contacted by the application system to provide letters of recommendation. These letters should come from persons familiar with your academic abilities and prospects (at least two letters should be from university professors) and appear on professional letterhead or electronic facsimile;Letter of application that states your academic and vocational background and interests as they relate to the specialties of departmental faculty, and identification of possible advisors. Ph.D. applicants are encouraged to provide an overview of their theses, whether completed or still in progress; andWriting sample, which is used to gauge students current writing skills and hence prospects of success, and which must be solely written by the applicant:M.S. students should submit a recent term paper or paper completed as part of a capstone course.If required, an official TOEFL score of 86 (internet based test) is required to be submitted. The TOEFL institution code for OSU is 6546.Alternatively, an official IELTS, academic stream, examination with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 will satisfy the English proficiency requirements for admission to a graduate program. Either examination must have been taken within the last two years.
