What will I learn?

The Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies is for students who wish to design their own degree by taking courses in several disciplines. This degree allows students to choose their own subjects and build their own pathway by choosing courses which make sense to them. Students select a theme which crosses over disciplinary boundaries in literature, art and history or science and mathematics. This multidisciplinary approach provides educational opportunities leading to a variety of careers.Courses are not specified for the degree, but must be selected from no fewer than two separate fields the advisory committee can assist in selecting appropriate courses. Up to nine graduate hours can be transferred from a regionally accredited graduate program with consent of the advisory committee. The student chooses among the following master's degree plans: a 30-hour plan, including a six-hour research thesisa 32-hour plan, non-thesis. May include a culminating experience (e.g., internship, practicum, comprehensive exam, portfolio, or capstone project) may include a final report with no more than three hours of research.
