The Master of Science in Library and Information Science (LIS) program at Pratt Institute is the oldest LIS program in the country, with its first class beginning in 1890. With strength in the area of archives and cultural heritage, as well as an extensive history and speciality in children and youth services, we provide an immersive, hands-on, and experiential learning experience, preparing students for careers as librarians, archivists, and other information professionals. The Master of Science in Library and Information Science (LIS) program prepares individuals to be experts at collecting, managing, preserving, and providing access to information. Graduates from Pratt’s LIS program work to support and improve lives and communities through information and knowledge collections and services.
