What will I learn?

The Master of Science with a concentration in Sports Administration (MSSA) is a 39-credit program for individuals interested in developing competence and pursuing careers in the management of sports personnel and facilities. Graduates of this program may assume supervisory and administrative positions in a variety of settings, including public recreation systems, voluntary agencies, facility and event management, community based athletic programs, college athletic administration, and professional sports organizations. The program is administered through the Department of Kinesiology.The program emphasizes competency in seven core areas:Leadership, management, and organization of recreation and sportResearch methodsLegal aspects of sportsMarketing of programs and facilitiesEthics in sports managementSports in a social contextFinancial aspects of sportIn this interdisciplinary program, students take graduate coursework through the Department of Kinesiology and other graduate programs, including Education, Psychology, Communication, and Liberal Studies.

Entry requirements

For international students

To qualify for an admission recommendation into a Graduate School program, all doctorate, masters, and certificate applicants must: Graduate from an accredited college or university; Graduate with a 3.0 GPA (B-average) in all undergraduate and/or graduate coursework.

English proficiency may be met with the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) or the Pearson Test of English (PTE). 6.0 minimum IELTS with no more than two sub scores below 6.0; 75 minimum TOEFL internet-based score must come directly from ETS to be considered valid for admission; Certain programs require a higher IELTS or TOEFL score; 56 minimum PTE; Completion of a recognized English second language (ESL) program; GRE is not required for most programs.
