About this course

What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Arts in Music Education, Piano Pedagogy Emphasis provides in-depth training for individual and group piano instruction. Nationally recognized, it is the most comprehensive piano-pedagogy program in the state of California. The mission of the School of Music is to grow artistry, build community and advance distinction. The school achieves these three pillars of artistry, community and distinction by fostering an environment in which individual achievement and artistic expression thrive fully and equitably for our diverse students. Our degree programs and curriculum offer preparation for careers in music, music education or further graduate study. Our artist-teachers are professional musicians and academics who offer instruction in all aspects of music: theory, composition, musicianship, history, literature, performance and music education.

Entry requirements

For international students

First-year students must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be a high school graduate or equivalent.

Complete the 15-unit comprehensive “A-G” pattern with a grade of C- or better by high school graduation.

"A-G" requirement may not be completed during the summer term prior to fall enrolment.

Earn a competitive Multi Factor Admission Score (MFAS)

You can demonstrate English Language Proficiency by meeting the following exam benchmarks.

TOEFL iBT (including paper, home): 61

IELTS Academic Test: 5.5

PTE Academic Test: 43
