Students who wish to pursue a doctoral degree at Florida Tech typically hold both a bachelor's and master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Applicants must have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.2 in prior graduate coursework in order to be considered for admission to a Florida Tech doctoral degree program. Applicants with a bachelors or masters degree in mathematics, natural science, engineering or a closely related field are eligible to apply to the Ph.D. in oceanography. Admission decisions emphasize academic preparation and alignment between an applicants research interests and faculty expertise. An on-campus interview is strongly recommended, though not required, as it provides an opportunity to discuss research goals and program fit. Students may be admitted in any semester. For optimal course sequencing and research planning, fall admission is preferred.
