Pathologists' Assistant (M.S.)

What will I learn?

Pathologists' assistants play a key role in making diagnoses. In both the surgical and forensic realm, responsibilities can include examination and dissection of anatomic pathology specimens, postmortem examinations, laboratory management and instruction. Because Wayne State is one of just 15 accredited programs in North America that trains students in this highly specialized field, there is a highly competitive admissions process to fill 12-14 spots each year. Those who are selected prepare for their career through comprehensive experiential learning. After rotating through a broad spectrum of clinical environments, 100% of students are employed within six months of graduation. Our mission is to educate highly qualified professional pathologists' assistants who are highly competent and exceed standards of practice in surgical and autopsy pathology as required in hospital and medicolegal facilities.
