What will I learn?

The Master of Public Health program prepares public health professionals to draw on the knowledge and skills from a variety of disciplines and to define, critically assess, evaluate and resolve public health problems. MPH program graduates will have a common educational grounding that will enable them to work effectively with the broad spectrum of public health issues related to their public health careers. The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree combines the study of the physical, psychological, economic and social forces affecting the human condition. The degree’s curriculum seeks to analyze not only the nature and context of public health problems, but also the organizational, behavioral, socio-cultural and political constraints to ameliorating these problems. Through experiences in and out of the classroom, students develop the habit of intellectual inquiry, prepare for challenging professions, strengthen relationships to their communities and contribute productively to society. The program’s purpose is to prepare public health professionals to draw on the knowledge and skills from a variety of disciplines to define, critically assess, evaluate and resolve public health problems. MPH program graduates will have a common educational grounding that enables them to work effectively with the broad spectrum of public health issues that they face during their public health careers. Graduates with an MPH are prepared for careers related to public health, health care and health promotion in various public and private settings, including as health program planners, program evaluators, program managers, health educators, and health and safety managers.

Entry requirements

For international students

You are eligible to apply as a graduate student if you have earned a degree equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree.

Completion of three units of statistics and research methods (appropriate courses include statistics, epidemiology, research methods, program design and evaluation, etc.) with a “B” (3.0) or better.
Appropriate educational background for the public health program. Professionals currently in the field can demonstrate proficiency by coursework or by portfolio review or similar supporting evidence.

IELTS: 6.5

PTE: 58
