Study Special Education, BAE at Arizona State University - Kaplan International in the USA, Arizona State University, Main campus

What will I learn?

This degree is taught in ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College, which is internationally ranked for the quality of its teacher preparation programs. In fact, ASU began as an institution for training teachers. Special educators make a difference in the lives of children and families. They are curious about how people learn and develop throughout their lifespan. A special education degree prepares students to understand human diversity, communicate effectively and develop problem-solving skills that support their success and that of others. The Bachelor of Arts in Education program in special education prepares graduates to work with students with disabilities in inclusive settings. Teacher candidates learn to use evidence-based practices that promote students' success with general education content, including high-leverage practices in literacy and math. They develop adaptive techniques for students with disabilities and learn to use instructional and assistive technologies to facilitate success. Students participate in professional experiences designed to expose them to numerous ways of teaching and learning. Internships and student teaching are embedded during sophomore, junior and senior years to provide teacher candidates with multiple opportunities to work directly with children and youth.
