What will I learn?

The special education program integrates dynamic coursework with hands-on experience to prepare candidates for the Learning Behavior Specialist (LBSI) Professional Educator License. This license allows you to work with students in kindergarten-age 22 who have learning, emotional or intellectual disabilities orthopedic impairments autism spectrum disorder traumatic brain injuries multiple disabilities and other health impairments. The special education program: Provides Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation-approved programs for licensure as an LBS I Offers courses required for early childhood special education approval Is rated as Exemplary by the Illinois State Board of Education

For international students

Students seeking a bachelors degree from SIUE who have never attended a college or university, and those who may have taken some coursework at a college or university outside the U.S. but do not currently hold a bachelors degree.Submit official records showing grades for all years of secondary/high school AND official exam results or certificate/diploma. Applicants who have attempted at least 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of college-level transfer credit (either from the U.S. or abroad) are not required to provide secondary school records.Meet English proficiency requirementTOEFL: 72IELTS: 6.0 (no component score under 5.5)
