The Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Art History is an interdisciplinary program that combines hands-on studio practice with rigorous art historical study, allowing students to develop both creative and analytical skills. With an equal balance of coursework in studio art and art history, the program emphasizes technical proficiency across a range of media, critical thinking, visual analysis, and an understanding of art’s cultural, historical, and material contexts. A required capstone course in Technical Art History bridges making and scholarship by examining artistic materials, processes, and conservation concerns. Graduates are prepared for diverse career paths in the arts-including museum and gallery work, arts administration, conservation-related fields, and professional studio practice-or for continued study at the graduate level.
