What will I learn?

The interaction design undergraduate certificate prepares students to design thoughtful, user-centered digital experiences. The program introduces core principles of interaction, user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design while emphasizing design thinking and problem-solving in real-world contexts. Through studio-based coursework, you’ll explore the relationships between visual design, communication design, and UI/UX design. You’ll develop real-world skills in research, ideation, prototyping and testing while learning to make user-centered decisions grounded in the theory and practice of design empathy. You will build a professional portfolio through hands-on projects, including interactive and mobile app prototypes created with industry-standard tools. This certificate supports non-majors, adjacent majors and working professionals seeking practical UI/UX and interaction design skills applicable across multiple creative and technical fields.
