Universitas Gajdah Mada (UGM) has multiple identities as a national university, a university of struggle, a Pancasila university, a people's university and a cultural center university. Born from the struggle for the Indonesian independence revolution, UGM was appointed as the National Center for Science and Culture for the implementation of national higher education. The university is a merger of several universities that had been established earlier, including the Gadjah Mada Higher Education Center, the Engineering College, and the Political Science Academy located in Yogyakarta, the Legal Expert Education Center in Solo, and the Preclinical Medical College in Klaten. UGM offers over 270 study programs and houses 23 research centers that will help students broaden their horizons. UGM’s campus is located in the heart of Yogyakarta, a city renowned for its history and cultural heritage.
