The Elma Cole Equine Research Scholarship was established with a gift from Elma Stuart Rees Cole and is offered to graduate researchers who are enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy – Science, are undertaking research in the field of equine health, and are experiencing financial need. Preference is given to graduate researchers undertaking research into the treatment of illnesses and injuries from which racehorses and quarter horses are prone to suffer.

Have applied for and meet the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy – Science

Be undertaking research in the field of equine health

Students are shortlisted based on their

  • Academic excellence

Selection criteria

The scholarship is offered to the graduate researcher(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on the quality of their application and entry score, and their financial need score. Preference will be given to graduate researchers undertaking research into the treatment of illnesses and injuries from which racehorses and quarter horses are prone to suffer if they are ranked in the top 75% of applicants. In the interests of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships received by graduate researchers will be taken into consideration.
