This scholarship provides a fortnightly stipend with a rate of AUD $39,500 per year (2026 pro-rata full-time rate) for up to 3.5 years. The stipend may be indexed annually and includes limited paid sick, parenting and partner leave.
Eligibility
To be considered for this scholarship, you must:
Have received an offer for the Doctor of Philosophy – Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences commencing in the year for which the scholarship is awarded
Be undertaking a research project within the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology in the discipline of Biochemistry.

The scholarship is offered to the eligible students(s) ranked highest by the selection panel based on their faculty scholarship score. Preference will be given to domestic candidates who have completed an Honours degree or the Master of Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne. In the interest of equitable distribution of scholarships, other scholarships or prizes received from the University by candidates are considered.
You will be automatically considered for scholarship eligibility when you apply for the relevant course at this institution
