Other eligibility requirements

The award is available once to one prospective domestic or international ANU student who:

  • will be enrolling full-time in a program of study for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, based in the ANU School of Engineering (‘the School’), College of Systems and Society;
  • has completed qualifications comparable to the educational level of an Australian Bachelor first class Honours degree, or has demonstrated research experience to a standard equivalent to an ANU first class Honours and in the area of electrical engineering;
  • has solid fundamental knowledge and research experience in communications and/or signal processing, as well as coding (e.g. in C++, C, MATLAB and/or VHDL for FPGA configuration);
  • has fundamental knowledge and demonstrated ability to conduct research in wireless communications and/or signal processing;
  • preferably has knowledge and experience in computing, algorithm development, computer simulation, and/or artificial intelligence and machine learning;
  • has excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact effectively and foster respectful and productive working relationships with colleagues, team/group members, and collaborators and
  • is an Australian citizen or citizen of New Zealand, Canada, the United States of America, the United Kingdom, India, or Japan.

Candidates in receipt of the supplementary scholarship only must also:

  • be in receipt of an AGRTP or equivalent stipend scholarship or is approved to hold this Award as a bridging scholarship.

This PhD scholarship will be awarded with consideration towards gender diversity.
