One scholarship, valued at CAN $1,500, is awarded annually to an outstanding student entering Year One of Honours Arts or Honours Arts and Business (regular) at the University of Waterloo. This scholarship honours Mary Gerhardstein who served as associate dean of the Faculty of Arts from 1995 to 2001 and who taught for many years in the Department of English Language and Literature.
