Other eligibility requirements

The main purpose of the Scholarships is to attract international students of high calibre to pursue a research doctoral degree in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. 

Tenure: Up to 36 months

To be eligible for Scholarship consideration, candidates must be i) an international student (see Note I), ii) comply with the requirements of the domestic fees policy for PhD students, and who meet all the requirements of these regulations (see Note III), and iii), subject to Regulation 3, be enrolling full-time in a PhD in the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences. Where a qualifying programme with a grade point average (GPA) or grade point equivalent (GPE) is the basis of entry to the PhD, a candidate must have a GPA/GPE of at least 7.00 in that programme to be eligible for scholarship consideration.

Selection criteria

The basis of selection will be academic merit and the quality and nature of the research proposal. Matters that may be considered in relation to academic merit include, but are not limited to, academic record, standing of awarding institution, academic references, CV and research and publication record (see Note V). Strategic factors may also be taken into consideration.
