Other eligibility requirements

The aim of this scholarship is to support the development of Pacific biomedical researchers and help Pacific students to reach their full potential. The Faculty of Biomedical Sciences offers one Pacific Postgraduate Scholarship each year to support full-time study for a BSc Hons, BBiomedSc Hons, PGDipSci or 1st year of an MSc degree.

Applications are open to domestic or international students who:

  • meet the University’s requirements for indigenous Pacific ancestry verification
  • intend to enrol full-time in a 400-level postgraduate programme offered by the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, with the primary supervisor a member of staff in one of the Faculty’s Departments (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Physiology) or teaching programmes (Genetics, Neuroscience)

Students are shortlisted based on their

  • Academic excellence

Selection criteria

The selection panel shall consider the following factors in recommending awarding the scholarship: (i) The applicant’s involvement in and commitment to Pacific Islands communities. (ii) The applicant’s interest in and commitment to research. (iii) The applicant’s academic ability. (iv) Any advice or recommendations sought from appropriate University staff. The selection panel reserves the right not to award the scholarship in any given year. Applicants will be advised of the outcome within two weeks of the closing date.
