This scholarship supports research master’s students in Civil Engineering at University of Canterbury.

Value/Benefits:
a. NZ $40,000
b. Provided suitable positions are available, Silvester/Clark Consulting Engineers and Steel Construction New Zealand may offer the recipient a paid internship during tenure of the scholarship and an opportunity for employment following completion of the ME programme.

Tenure: One year

Applicable Enrolment During Tenure: A programme, including ENEQ 650, for an ME degree in Civil Engineering.

Selection basis

Students are shortlisted based on their

  • Academic excellence
  • Financial need/hardship

Selection criteria

In making the recommendation, the selection committee gives equal consideration to: a. potential to succeed at postgraduate study; b. demonstrated commitment to, or interest in, Civil Engineering, in particular, steel structures engineering; c. potential to contribute to research in Structural Steel Engineering and increase value to the New Zealand fabricated structural steel industry; d. financial need; and e. academic achievement.

If, in any year, there is no candidate of sufficient merit, no scholarship is offered
