The Burdett Trust will support 2 annual scholarships (one home student and one international student) for registered nurses to undertake the MSc Advanced Professional Practice* (the name of this MSc may change but content and delivery will remain the same).

The Burdett Trust Home Scholarship will support one registered nurse, who meets residency criteria for NI Home tuition fees to undertake the MSc in Advanced Professional Practice* (*Name of MSc may change). The award will cover the full tuition fees plus a stipend to the student. Given that the award covers 5 years, tuition fees will be agreed each year. 

The Burdett Trust International Scholarship will support one registered nurse (who meets residency criteria for international fees) to undertake the MSc in Advanced Professional Practice. The award will cover the full international student tuition fees, plus a stipend to each student.  Given that the award covers 5 years, tuition fees will be agreed each year.

Eligibility

The successful student will fulfil criteria as set out below: 

  • All candidates who have accepted a place and intend to register for the MSc programme in the relevant academic year are eligible to apply for the Award.
  • Applicants must be a permanent resident in Northern Ireland 
  • Applicants must be a registered nurse
  • Candidates must have at least a 2:2 or equivalent. Applicants whose first language is not English are normally required to have an IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent.

The final decision will be based on the record of academic achievement and conditions outlined in criteria above and a supporting written statement and interview.

Application requirements

    The written statement should be not more than 500 words and detail: “Why would you like to be considered for this prestigious scholarship and how will it enhance your career in nursing?"  

    Email application will be sent to all accepted students onto the programme with a two-week deadline to return the application forms. 

    Following interview, an offer will be made to the highest ranked applicant in the first instance and in order of ranking thereafter should the scholarship be turned down.
