Set me on the path for a great career

I graduated in 1995 with as a Master of Chiropractic. Macquarie University provided a great practical education with a number of mentors that helped me to focus the direction of my daily practice. I cannot thank them enough.

Please avoid as an external student

Extremely poor experience.

I am an external masters student with Macquarie University and have had a very poor experience thus far. I have been frequently met with an overt disinterest, distrust, and overall lack of concern by Macquarie University's administration staff and extremely poor communication to boot. I have often made several requests to get in contact with a Head of Department or Academic, which increases the likelihood of a concern being rectified, but am similarly received with a response of 'how did you get this number?'. I was also unfortunate in missing an internship opportunity with a prominent human rights organisation due to the slow and lacklustre communication shown by MQ. Having studied externally with two other institutions I definitely feel disadvantaged with Macquarie University and have thoroughly removed my recommendation.

Enrol only if you can't get admission to better uni

My advice for overseas students is always aim to get in to higher ranked uni like Sydney Uni, there's a reason for this. The quality of lecturers are obviously not as good as higher ranking university. The structure of courses is also not good as they do not encourage critical thinking very well. Better companies will want to recruit students from better uni. Administration side is quite sloppy and inefficient. The campus is very diverse, lots of students from India and the Middle east. The university in general seems to be working hard to improve themselves but quite hopeless due to quality of staff running the place.

Best decision ever made!

I had the best experience at MQ. Excellent faculty members who train and make sure you are well prepared for your career. My professors helped alot for my paper publishing and my research. One of the best decisions ever made.

Beware of the relaxed environment. Enjoy it and have fun, but it’s easy to slack too much with the local culture and your grade point average will suffer. A perfect GPA of 4.0 is like virginity: it doesn’t matter how long you have had it for; once you’ve lost it, it’s gone forever.

Very much. It is an awesome experience. The best advice I can give is to make and get to know as many people as possible. Do not be shy or proud, but make sure to greet anyone you meet with a friendly smile and your university life will most definitely be fun and fulfilling.

Usually I am busy with my study, we have much homework, but I still enjoy my life, actually I hope we can have more interpreting practice, since I do not think I have made much progress. Advice: Joining OCF

I promise I was not paid to write this review!

I'm having an amazing time at university! Meeting new people from very very different walks of life, experiencing new things.. though I must say that there can be really low points at times but it is the ups and downs that makes the experience so enriching ! One advice? Come with the right attitude ! Especially for international students, it might be very daunting living home and yes, its normal for us to miss home but we have to remember that it is a privilege to have the opportunity to study abroad and we should not take that privilege for granted! Be open to mingle, get to know people especially in the first few months when everyone is new to everyone.
