A diverse university

This university is awesome, especially for international students. There are great networking opportunities that everyone can capitalize on. Most professors are very helpful, and their goal is to ensure success. I have been at SFA since 2014, and the experience has been a rewarding one. Additionally, there are lots of scholarship opportunities available. I would definitely recommend this university!

Biotechnology rocks!

Study abroad is always a challenge. Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) has been my second home for over four years - from undergraduate to graduate studies. First thing what I have noticed, is the difference between European and American education system. In Europe, yes you get an education free of charge, but that is all - is like a mass production of people with degrees. Here in USA, being at the college is a lifestyle, is a part of your life that you will never forget. I am glad that I went to SFA. It is consider a smaller state college - but for a foreigner it does not feel that way. It has a huge, beautiful campus, lot of outdoor activities and a new STEM building that is in the process of being built and so far looks amazing!!!!! Professors are so different here than what I am used to from Europe. They want you to succeed, they remember you - because classes are fairly small, so you get very individual approach. I am a biotechnology graduate student, and I am loving it! Each of the graduate students has its own research project, so you get a lot of freedom in your studies, however they also require your absolute devotion. You do not do this to get a degree - you do this because you love what you are doing. And of course you have days when you want to give up - you miss your home, you are here alone, classes are hard - and in a different language that your native one, you feel overwhelmed. But nothing can beat the feeling, when you succeed even in a small step! The biology department also offers teaching assistantship, which helps you to pay tuition and living expenses. We get travel grants to see scientific conferences such as :ASBMB, which is a lifetime experience. Overall, you learn how to become a professional in your field. If you are coming with a strong work ethic - great! if not- you are going to acquire one. But that is an necessity in order to succeed in life. These were the best and most intense years of my life. Totally worthy!

The Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics department is awesome at SFASU. I feel fully equipped to tackle my field when I graduate. The professors I've had have been amazing and have given me so much knowledge. The campus is beautiful and so is the staff. SFASU has great financial resources and have made my college education attainable. The school is located in a small town, but we have Dallas and Houston not far away! I definitely recommend SFASU to international students, as we don't have that many as it is.

I have had a great experience at SFASU. I graduate May 2016, and I feel prepared to tackle my industry in nutrition. My professors have fully equipped me with the right knowledge and tools to help people with my degree. SFASU had great financial resources and scholarship opportunities to help my education become attainable. I'm glad that I was able to contribute to the ethnic diversity at this university and stay part of the International Student Association.

Great School!!!!!!!!!!

SFA has a lot of Resources to help students succeed like the ARRC and a lot of activities to balance academics with fun. It's a great school and as an international student, I would definitely recommend it to others, especially internationals! While gaining your education, you would meet wonderful people from all around the globe.

Overall great school. Good environment to study. Good scholarships are available for those coming from different countries and transfer students. Not too many internationals.

For a great future start Here.( SFASU)

I'm so happy to study at SFASU , it's a great school to learn. The department of agriculture is very organized with the very qualify professor who teach well. Always professors, students or staff are available if help needed. It's the same for the library, any book needed or research, the librarians are available for help.
So I strongly recommended the international student to come and study at SFASU it's a good place.

studying in SFA.

SFA is a really good campus to achieve your goals. The people are very amiable. The advisers are very happy to help you in any problems you may face. There are many programs that bring students together, giving you an opportunity to meet new students. The smallness of the campus also save your time and transport expenses.
