Experience

I have studied International Business and Communication at University of Cumbria. I think the best part of studying at University of Cumbria must be its environment, such as beautiful scenery, fresh air, and all kinds of convenient facilities. I used many facilities
(such as lifts, well-equipped classrooms and dormitories, library with dozens of books, and gym) during my study at University of Cumbria, all of the facilities which are very new and easy to use. I learnt a host of things from my courses (Marketing, HRM, Strategic Analysis, Global Business), that is helpful for my career in the years to come. University of Cumbria is a university I would recommend to others.

I would not want to be anywhere else

I am located at the Brampton Road campus which is a very supportive, vibrant and creative environment. It is easy to feel at home here. The campus is relatively small and everybody is very friendly and welcoming. The class sizes are also fairly small, which makes for a more personal experience. The university’s student support is exceptional - help is always right there, whenever you need it.

Overall, I have had an amazing first year living and studying in the UK at the University of Cumbria and I would not want to be anywhere else.

Memorable and Pleasant Experience

I come from China. I just graduated from University of Cumbria last year.

After I participated in the exchange program in 2016, I liked university of cumbria, which is located in the Lake District. So I came back to this uni after graduation to do the top-up course in 2018. I'm so glad that I have a pleasant and unforgettable experience at University of Cumbria. To be more detailed, tutors are patient because they listen to international students and are helpful. Staff is supportive as they replied emails in detail and timely to solve doubts. The uni's environment is beautiful because it is located in the Lake District. The uni has a perfect location as it's easy to go to the North (Edinburgh) and head down to London easily for about 2.5 hours.

As an international student, having a cozy and affordable place to live is important. I chose to stay in University of Cumbria's accommodation and I enjoyed my time in the vintage decorated spacious room. Besides, the uni's canteen offers delicious food. More importantly, it is the place where you can enjoy the magnificent view of the town.

The language barrier isn't a problem in this uni because it holds English Corner for everyone to practice their oral English and share their stories. Also, this weekly activity helps you overcome cultural differences.

University of Cumbria focuses on the future career development of students. In addition to teaching relevant knowledge during lectures, the uni also provides suitable part-time opportunities for students. I was lucky to get the opportunity to work in the Lake District for a local company. When I encountered some difficulties at work, uni's staff helped me without hesitation.

Teachers are friendly and knowledgeable. UoC is a small university,it means that you could talk with your tutors deeply. They will give you some advices not only in study but also in your career life. There are lots of native students in this university, so as an international student will have many opportunities to practice your English and learn British culture.
