Great University

I am an international student at UNCW. I just started my second semester here. My experience at UNCW has been fantastic since the first day. The application and admission process was simple. The Office of International Students was a great help during my visa application.

When I arrived at UNCW, I adapted quickly. There was a two-day orientation that made the transition process very smooth. I have been able to find help and support whenever needed.

The campus has very good facilities where students can study, relax, socialize, and have fun. Most of the professors I have had so far have been excellent. Most of them are very friendly and very caring. The atmosphere is so welcoming; it is easy to meet people and make friends through many events and clubs. I'm thrilled that I have decided to study here.

Great atmosphere

I love the atmosphere at UNCW. Everybody is relaxed and I love being so close to the beach, it gives the town and university a different feel. I have met some wonderful people in my four years here, as well as many inspiring professors. I've made amazing connections and friendships that I'll keep forever.

My Dream School

Going to UNCW was one of the best decisions I ever made. I decided to go here because of the beach and bigger atmosphere. I am a transfer student and came in as a Junior. I felt like I was able to fit in the school perfect as I met many people that enjoyed the same things as me through clubs, the activites UNCW put on for us to meet people and socialize and the great programs UNCW has to offer. I love how open the school is and how accepting It has been to me. I'm so grateful to be apart of the Seahawk family and be able to call myself a dub. I never want my experience here to end.

Home Away from Home

UNCW is an amazing school. It is such a welcoming community. The school has a very laid back and relaxed atmosphere and it is something every student needs. It is super easy to make friends as there is so many other international students and so many kind people. It is also super easy to get involved with a wide range of clubs, sports etc. Furthermore, it is super easy to get a job on campus using Handshake. There is so many resources on campus as well like the library, health centre, writing centre etc. Most classes are on the smaller side so more one-on-one with the professors who are very welcoming and great at teaching. I’ve loved every professor I’ve had. Coming to UNCW was the best decision I’ve ever made.

Happy student

I have been at UNCW for more than 6 months months now and I must saw that I enjoy it. The school has a great location and with lots of great communities to join and meet people. I have met so many people and been introduced to wonderful places. For example I enjoy going to the beach and going out to eat with friends around here.

First Semester Experience at UNCW

I am a first-year graduate student majoring in Geosiences. I am also an international student from Japan. My experience as a UNCW intentional graduate student has been phenomenal. All my professors and fellow students in my department are very supportive of what you do, which makes your study pushing forward all the time. If you are an international graduate student, there are chances to get a spot for graduate assistantship you can apply to get tuition waiver, and you do not have to pay outside-state tuition, which is about 3 times more than in state tuition.

While my academic experience and the funding opportunities have been great, I had a difficult time with the admission process. There was a paper work issue, and I had to email/call many times to get to the right person who can solve it.

Overall, I think it was right decision for me to learn my study at UNCW. People here try to understand where you come from and help what you want to achieve!
