Review of Victoria University of Wellington

It's very relaxed and slow paced. Classes are very lenient and lecturers are more than happy to help students. Individualism is very abundant and student freedom is a big part of student life. There isn't much a sense of school pride but there is pride in the cosmopolitan lifestyle in Wellington. Walking up the hill to the university is very challenging but rewarding, even more rewarding is making it to your classes when there is torrential rain.

Studying at Victoria University has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life and that too on my own. At the time of applying to universities, I was considering universities in Australia and New Zealand but due to the lifestyle offered in New Zealand, I chose to come here. Also Victoria University has good reputation so that has been one of the most motivating factors for choosing it. I think it is important that students make their decisions on their own so that they do not regret later.

Studying at Victoria University has been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life and that too on my own. Confused and disappointed

Overall experience is so so and there has been nothing special in the last 2 years I have spent studying at Victoria University. The overall environment is encouraging but teaching is just average. The focus of degree is more in exploring tourism in New Zealand instead of following a global trend.

Good for becoming a primary school teacher

It is quite good for me. I wanted to immigrate to New Zealand and for that I needed a course on the basis of which I could get a job because unless you do not have a job, you cannot live in New Zealand. I would advice anyone who thinks the same way to study graduate diploma as it recognizes your previous qualification while giving you a new career.

I came to New Zealand 2 months ago and I got shocked when I bought a mobile phone and the SIM card. Even the local calls and SMS are very expensive. Same is true for internet and associated technologies. I must say that mobile phone technology in Pakistan is way more advanced than New Zealand and it is quite shocking. Secondly, there is a great cultural difference and Pakistani community is not very strong in New Zealand therefore I miss the traditional food, friends and other traditional stuff. You should come prepared to face all these challenges if you do not want to get shocked like me.

Life at Victoria University is average. The study culture and environment is very different and competition is fierce. Fellow students are the selfish kind. They do help you but to some extent only because they are very sensitive about their grades and do not want you to move ahead of them. I do not like this attitude because every person has his own grades at university level. Advice for prospective students is that do not rely on anyone for studies as some of your class fellows might resort to even misguiding you. Just concentrate on your studies and your own abilities.

I grew up in a small city of Pakistan. It was my dream to get an overseas qualification. I always took my studies seriously and performed well at every level but due to financial reasons my dream seemed to be out of reach until I got the opportunity to study here on scholarship. On a number of occasions I applied for scholarships at different universities around the world but could not get scholarship. I am grateful to Victoria University who offered me the chance to make my dream come true. My advice to every student will be to aim at sky and to never give up because you never know you have success waiting on a door you never knocked.

After long hours of surfing online to explore the available opportunities, I decided that I will go to a New Zealand university. I faced some issues when I first came here but now that I have spent some time here, I feel that I made a reasonable choice.
