Swansea University features among the world's top institutions in nine subjects in the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.
Of the 48 subjects surveyed by higher education data specialists QS, the University’s Nursing disciplines have entered the world’s top 100, and Law has joined the top 200 - up from the top 250 in 2017.
Medicine and Mathematics have also risen this year, entering the top 400 and top 350 respectively.
The University’s Engineering disciplines continue to perform strongly, with Civil and Mechanical Engineering retaining their top 200 ranking, and Chemical Engineering remaining in the top 300. Physics has also retained its position in the top 450.
In addition to the nine subjects ranked, Swansea is also ranked in four out of five of the QS broad subject area rankings including Arts and Humanities, Engineering and Technology, Life Sciences and Medicine, and Natural Sciences.
1,130 institutions from 151 countries have been ranked across 48 subjects in five subject areas. The ranking compares subjects based on their global reputations for research strength and research citations, links with employers to produce the best graduates, and research knowledge transfer.
"The publication of this year's QS University Rankings by Subject reinforces our position among the world's very best,” said Professor Hilary Lappin-Scott, Senior Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
"Whilst Nursing can be singled out for specific praise achieving a global top 100 position, what is especially pleasing is the breadth of quality that we can point to in many subject areas; from Natural Sciences to Arts and Humanities, we rank among the very best.”
