New Mexico State University (NMSU) was instituted in 1888 as Las Cruces College. NMSU is a land-grant institution and a comprehensive research university dedicated to teaching, research, public service, and outreach. NMSU is also a NASA Space Grant College and home to the first Honors College in New Mexico. The university’s 21st-century degree programs, innovative research activities, and unwavering commitment to improving lives have been acknowledged on the national stage. NMSU’s main campus sits on 900 acres of land and enrols over 14,000 students from across the USA and 89 other countries. The university serves a multi-cultural population of students and community members across the state at four campuses and a satellite learning center in Albuquerque. There are also cooperative extension offices and 12 agriculture research and science centers, plus distance education programs to give students maximum flexibility.
