University of Arizona

The University of Arizona was established in 1885, even before Arizona became a state. Overcoming many obstacles on its way to being an educational institution, the University of Arizona has embarked on an incredible journey of learning and discovery with stories of wonder dotting its distinguished history. In addition to offering a full suite of academic courses, the university has many achievements to its credit, such as inventing tree-ring research in 1937 and opening the first lab for dendrochronology, and helping to map the moon to assist the Eagle in landing in 1969. The university also sampled an asteroid for the first time in U.S. history, in 2021. There are numerous student clubs and organizations at the University of Arizona, catering to every interest, from niche hobbies to extracurriculars to professional groups.
