Ideas create the future at the University of Delaware
University of Delaware’s Science, Technology and Advanced Research campus is currently being expanded to include a ten-story tower with labs and classroom space. This will serve as an addition to the health and research facilities which have been built over the last few years.
Recently launched by the English Language Institute (ELI), the pathway program, Academic Transitions, is now in place to help high achieving international students to prepare for undergraduate study. During the program they will improve their academic English levels as well as earning up to 27 university credits.
Aside from excellent teaching and research, the University of Delaware is home to athletics of all sorts, including 21 NCAA Division I teams. UD’s teams are known as the Blue Hens. Just this year, the University has embarked on a renovation project to improve its sporting facilities, including the Delaware Stadium and the Whitney Athletic Center. With a project completion date of 2020, both will enhance athletic training on campus.
The University of Delaware is internationally-renowned for strong research and teaching expertise. There are over 1,000 faculty members at the University; and more than 400 of them are academic experts who regularly feature as authority figures in the news.

There are pathways for those who cannot meet the English language requirements. These are provided by the English Language Institute (ELI) and are available for undergraduate and graduate students. The Academic Transitions (AT) helps prospective undergraduates improve their English skills, gain university credits, learn about U.S. culture and prepare for academic life. TOEFL and IELTS scores are not required.
Prospective graduate students can take the Conditional Admission Program (CAP). This is popular with those who intend to study for a master’s qualification at UD or a partner institution. Eligible students will be able to vastly improve their academic English skills, including academic reading, writing and presenting.

Almost every first-year student lives in the University of Delaware’s campus housing. Research has shown that those who live on-campus perform better academically and enjoy more community activities.
Residence halls on UD’s campus meet the needs of all different kinds of students. Options include single or double rooms, suites and apartments, and can be mixed gender or female only. The University hosts many events to support the educational and social environment for all those who live in residence halls.
On campus, the facilities available for UD students are extensive, vibrant and diverse. Dining options include numerous restaurants and cafes, catering to a range of dietary requirements and preferences. As well as the University Student Center, theatres and exercise facilities, there are more than 400 student organizations that create community around a variety of interests. UD is a great place to meet new people, enhance employable skills, and simply enjoy time spent outside of the classroom.
The campus also houses Student Health Services, which aids with health and wellbeing. There, students can receive urgent medical care, immunizations, health education and much more.
