Advanced Science is an academically elite, honours degree course in which you can tailor your study to your interests in science, technology and mathematics. They use sophisticated instruments to determine the properties of Earth and planetary materials, and to help understand the evolution of the Earth and the controls and direction of its climate and biosphere. In this course, you’ll gain the knowledge and the skill sets for careers in a range of industries involved with Earth materials and planetary systems. This major is a Bachelor of Advanced Science honours course for high-performing science students. It gives you a flexible approach to learning, allowing you to explore the field of Earth sciences through opportunities for immersive research experiences, industry placement and team-based projects.

Entry requirements

For international students

To apply for entry into this course, you must have met:

  • the course ATAR (Australian Tertiary Academic Rank) or equivalent recognised overseas qualification
  • ATAR - 95
  • Completion of Australian Year 12 (VCE, HSC, QCE, WACE, SACE, TCE, NTCE, ACT) with a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 70; and a scaled mark of at least 50 in English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma - 39
