What will I learn?

The honours program builds on an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited undergraduate psychology degree. The course provides students with advanced knowledge and practical skills and offers students an opportunity to engage in an independent research project under the guidance of an experienced researcher. Graduates of the fourth-year psychology course have skills that can be applied to a variety of professional areas and may choose a wide range of career paths such as government and community services, business and human resources, justice and administration.To pursue a career as a registered psychologist, you must be registered with AHPRA through the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of PY09 provides eligibility for provisional registration with AHPRA. For full registration as a psychologist a further two years of study in an accredited master’s program is required.

Entry requirements

For international students

A completed recognised bachelor degree in psychology completed within the past ten years with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 (on QUT's 7-point scale).The degree must be accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as an entry point into an honours program; e.g.Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) at QUT.Applicants with overseas qualifications must provide certification from the Australian Psychological Society (APS) stating their degree is equivalent to the APAC-approved, three-year training in psychology.
