About this course

What will I learn?

As the world becomes increasingly automated, and the range of industries innovating through digital technologies grows, so do the opportunities for mechatronic engineers. Mechatronic engineers now work in diverse industries including aerospace, agriculture, biotechnology mining and energy resources.Diverse industries – ranging from mining and transport to agriculture and biomedical engineering – require mechatronic engineers to contribute to innovations. In this major you will develop sound theoretical knowledge in the key disciplines of mechanics, electronics, computer systems and control. You’ll then apply your knowledge and develop practical skills through projects on topics including mobile robot communications and automation, pneumatic automation systems and machine control. This course gives you the flexibility to study specialisations, to either deepen your knowledge in mechatronic engineering or broaden your expertise in other disciplines.

For international students

To apply for entry into this course, you must have met:

  • the course ATAR (Australian Tertiary Academic Rank) or equivalent recognised overseas qualification
  • ATAR - 80
  • Completion of Australian Year 12 (VCE, HSC, QCE, WACE, SACE, TCE, NTCE, ACT) with a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 70; and a scaled mark of at least 50 in English, Literature, or English as an Additional Language or Dialect.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma - 30
