What will I learn?

Learn to design, build and integrate the intelligent machines and autonomous systems transforming industries.

UQ’s robotic and mechatronic engineering specialisation brings together mechanical engineering, electronics, computing and control.

You’ll develop technical expertise in robotics, control systems and autonomous technologies while learning how complex engineering systems are designed, integrated and managed throughout their lifecycle.

Building on the engineering principles introduced in first year, you’ll explore mechanical design, electronics, programming and control theory through increasingly advanced study and practical projects. Topics include sensing, localisation and mapping, path planning, advanced control and the integration of artificial intelligence into robotic systems.

A systems engineering approach will help you understand how individual technologies work together as part of a complete product or system. Alongside your technical capability, you’ll develop skills in systems integration, project delivery, teamwork and engineering communication.

Graduate prepared to contribute across robotics, automation, advanced manufacturing and other industries using autonomous and intelligent systems.
