Bachelor of International Studies (3 years) - Humans and Emerging Technologies

Australia

What will I learn?

The pace of technological change is reshaping how we live, work and connect with one another. From AI and algorithmic governance to wearable tech and climate modelling, emerging technologies are deeply embedded in global systems and human experience. As new tools disrupt economies, influence culture and challenge ethical boundaries, understanding how technology intersects with society is critical to building sustainable and inclusive futures.

In the Humans and Emerging Technologies major, you’ll explore how technologies reflect cultural beliefs, reinforce power structures and reshape identity. Drawing on critical histories, human-centred design and future thinking, you’ll investigate the cultural, political and ethical realities surrounding technological developments – and their continuing influence on how we live and work. And through industry collaboration on real-world projects, you’ll build the confidence to engage with frontier technologies across sectors including health, government, business and digital media.
