The application of science to real-world problems is increasingly multidisciplinary in nature. In many areas of scientific endeavour, from agricultural to planetary science, no single discipline is sufficient to deliver advances and innovation. This is reflected in multidisciplinary fields such as astronomy, biochemistry, bioinformatics, environmental science, forensic science and nanotechnology. In this course you will learn to apply scientific principles and concepts to real-world problems that are multidisciplinary in nature.You’ll also learn the communication, creative, entrepreneurial and cultural awareness skills that are important in collaborative careers across industry and government. You’ll choose one of four majors to study: Computational Sciences, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Engineering Science or Physical Sciences (see course structure for details). After completing Multidisciplinary Science, you may be eligible to study for an honours degree in Science or Engineering, or a postgraduate qualification in Education. Develop real-world experience before you graduate. Learn how work-integrated learning helps you build career skills and connect with industry early. The Engineering Science major provides students with an overview of the fundamental principles of engineering that span the breadth of the field. Students will gain the mathematical, practical, and problem-solving skills to tackle a range of engineering challenges from a fundamental science perspective. It provides a solid theoretical grounding and strong practical focus in which students will learn how to provide solutions to complex societal challenges. The cross-disciplinary curriculum gives students the opportunity to explore a range of engineering fields and provides a pathway to further discipline-specific engineering studies.
