What will I learn?

Biotechnology is an innovative and entrepreneurial field of science. Integrating knowledge from various disciplines, including biology, chemistry, engineering and computer science, its primary goal is to bring scientific discoveries to market. Innovations such as non-invasive cancer diagnoses, rapid pathogen detection, novel medicines, and the production of cheap and renewable energy, owe their existence to the ingenuity of biotechnologists. The Biotechnology major will provide you with a broad education in both the theory and practice of modern biomolecular-focused biotechnology. You’ll study biochemistry and cell biology, chemical and biomolecular sciences, microbiology and molecular biology, macromolecules and genomics. The knowledge and skills you’ll gain will prepare you for postgraduate studies or research in the field, or for entry into the biotechnology, biomolecular or medical sciences industries.
