What will I learn?

This program will develop your understanding of a comprehensive range of principles, approaches and analytic strategies relevant to epidemiology.The Graduate Diploma in Epidemiology is a 1-year program designed for applicants who have an approved degree, or who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Epidemiology from UQ.You'll be expected to have knowledge and experience in the health workforce. Epidemiology is particularly suited if you're a graduate of medicine, nursing, allied health, health sciences, nutrition and statistics, or if you want to advance your skills in health research methods.During the program, you'll complete compulsory courses, which will build and extend your knowledge of epidemiology as a discipline and develop your methodological skills, along with an elective course, which can cover research, public health and more.

Entry requirements

For international students

An approved degree in the same discipline; or

A Graduate Certificate in Epidemiology from this university (or equivalent).

Semester 2 entry is only available to Australian students studying part time due to course scheduling.

A degree in one of the following disciplines would normally meet the 'approved degree' requirement:

The minimum GPA to be considered for admission into this program is 4.0.

English Proficiency

IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ TOEFL IBT - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19. TOEFL PB - Overall 570, listening 54, reading 54, writing 59/5. Pearsons - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands. BEP - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills. CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands. OET is not accepted.
