What will I learn?

This exciting field of study is much more than the simple preservation of existing buildings. Instead, by engaging with history, your role is to provide value to building owners, visitors and cultural bodies, all of which have a shared interest in understanding, adapting and preserving our heritage.Graduates from architectural, urban planning, archaeological, historical, engineering or related backgrounds, or the Bachelor of Architecture and Environments, can develop their specialist conservation and adaptive reuse skills through this course. We also welcome applicants from other disciplines.The University of Sydney is one of the world's top 20 universities. We've attracted world-renowned teachers and researchers, so you'll be learning the latest practices from leaders in the field.Our uniquely flexible course structure allows you to complement your core studies with a broad range of electives from across the University.You will have access to our state-of-the-art computer laboratories and digital fabrication equipment, and dedicated studio spaces for students. Our building houses the only indoor environmental quality (IEQ) laboratory in the southern hemisphere, an extensive research lighting laboratory and outstanding audio and acoustics facilities, including an anechoic chamber and recording studio.

Entry requirements

For international students

To be considered for admission, an applicant is required to have:

an Australian bachelor's degree or higher (minimum 60 percent average) or equivalent qualification, or

an Australian bachelor's degree or higher with a pass average (minimum 50 percent) or equivalent qualification, and satisfactory performance in the GMAT (for guidance, the class average score is 590)

or equivalent Business School approved admissions test or the University of Sydney Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations with a credit average (65 percent).
