Fraud. Corruption. Terrorism. Domestic violence. Cybercrime. Vandalism. Car theft. Gun crime. Assault. Crime is among society’s most pressing challenges, demanding strategic attention and innovation. Highly trained criminologists are essential to understanding its causes and perpetrators, evaluating how societies respond, and finding ways to minimise its impact. As a result, demand for their expertise is growing, with jobs in criminology forecast to surge by 20 per cent in the coming years. The Master of Criminology will equip you with the critical insight and applied expertise needed to respond ethically and effectively to these challenges. Its interdisciplinary curriculum will encourage you to question assumptions about crime, and provide you with the tools to evaluate justice through the lenses of power, inequality and environmental security. You’ll engage with cutting-edge issues, such as the impact of technology and AI on policing, and consider how Indigenous knowledge and ecological thinking can inform justice responses. Drawing on advanced criminology theory – and from fields such as sociology, psychology, psychiatry and social anthropology – you’ll graduate ready to influence reform, contribute to justice and lead future innovation in criminology.
