What will I learn?

Digital infrastructure engineers work on the systems that connect the physical and digital world. They design the infrastructure for driving sustainable and resilient outcomes for businesses, projects, asset management, and ecosystems.The infrastructure sector in Australia is booming and relying on digital engineering tools like Building Information Modelling (BIM), Internet of Things (IoT) and virtual reality. With digital systems required in many industries, you can meet the demand for skilled people to assist with the transition to digital strategies and systems.
Learn how to position infrastructure, observations, or events using digital resources like satellites, robots, or laser scanning. You’ll integrate this data with statistics, machine learning and data simulations so you can visualise and communicate processes, patterns, and predictions.
Apply your skills with internships, industry projects, research and innovation challenges.
This program is accredited by the Surveyors Registration Board of Victoria. Provisional accreditation will been sought from Engineers Australia and EUR-ACE.

Entry requirements

For international students

2-year course

A Bachelor of Design from the University of Melbourne, with: A Digital Infrastructure Engineering Systems major, and A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65%. A Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne, with: A Digital Infrastructure Engineering Systems major, and A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65%. An engineering degree or major in an equivalent specialisation from another specialisation, with: A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65%.

3-year course

An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with: The equivalent of 25 points (two subjects) of first year mathematics (any), and The equivalent of 25 points (two subjects) of first year science from physics, biology, chemistry, computer science, or geography, and A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65% (or equivalent).
