What will I learn?

From energy efficient power grids to life-changing medical devices – design and manage the electrical systems powering our lives with the Master of Electrical Engineering at Australia’s top university. You’ll develop unique skills that will allow you to build and improve our power and telecommunications systems and develop future electronic and autonomous devices. Once you’ve started studying, you can specialise in ‘Autonomous Systems’, ‘Electronics and Photonics’, ‘Communications and Networks’ or ‘Low-Carbon Power Systems’. You can also continue without specialising. Be guided by renowned academics in communications and networks, control and signal processing through to power and energy systems. Our electrical engineers are working on state-of-the-art models and tools for our future energy systems, automated irrigation networks, energy efficient wireless communications and nano-electronics. Apply your skills in internships, industry projects, and innovation challenges with industry mentors.

Entry requirements

For international students

2-year course

To be eligible for entry into this course, you must have either: Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne, with: An Electrical Engineering Systems major, and A Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65%. An engineering degree or major in an equivalent specialisation from another institution, with: A WAM of at least 65% (or equivalent).

3-year course

An undergraduate degree in any discipline, with: The equivalent of 25 points (two subjects) of first year mathematics, specifically Calculus 2 and Linear Algebra, and The equivalent of 25 points of Physics (or equivalent), and A weighted average mark of at least 65%.
